Downtown Sun Prairie is shaped by the people who care about it. Our volunteer program is a flexible way for community members to get involved, meet others, and help make downtown a welcoming place for everyone.
Whether you have a few hours here and there or want to stay involved throughout the year, there are many ways to contribute.
You don’t need special experience—just a willingness to help.
What Volunteers Do
Volunteers support Downtown Sun Prairie in a variety of ways depending on interest, availability, and community needs. Tasks may include:
- Support downtown events
- Set up and break down event spaces and activity areas
- Greet visitors, check-in participants, and answer basic questions
- Assist vendors, performers, and staff at community events
- Serving beverages at select events (bartending license required)
- Assist in the beautification efforts of our downtown
- Pick up litter while walking downtown (supplies will be provided)
- Report maintenance needs such as wear and tear to signage, benches, and planters
- Assist with gardening
- Promote downtown businesses and events
- Deliver promotional materials to downtown businesses
- Take photos and videos to help share downtown experiences
- Sharing unique skills, ideas, or talents to support downtown initiatives (grant writing, graphic design, visual art, etc.)
This list is not exhaustive—volunteers often help in new and creative ways as needs arise.
