A Business Improvement District (BID) is defined as a geographically defined area where local stakeholders, primarily businesses and property owners, are responsible for funding and overseeing the maintenance, improvement, and promotion of their commercial district.
BIDs aim to enhance the attractiveness and economic viability of a specific area by providing services and improvements that go beyond what the municipality typically provides.
BIDs are funded through a special assessment levied on property owners and/or businesses within the district's boundaries, in addition to other potential funding sources (i.e. sponsorships, event ticket sales, grants, etc.).
